What is an independent medical assessment?

It’s a comprehensive medical assessment completed by a carefully selected, qualified Healthcare Professional who has not previously been involved in your care, and who will not be involved in your care afterwards.

The purpose of this assessment is to provide your insurance company or employer with an “independent” opinion about your injuries or condition.

You are in the right place.

The assessment may be completed in person at one of our 4 assessment centres in the GTA, or one of our 26 regional centres, the healthcare professionals’ own offices, or even virtually. The assessment may even be completed by simply reviewing your medical file. Following an assessment, HVE provides a written medical report to your insurance company or employer on your behalf.

A focus on person-centred services

Since 2013, HVE has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) to provide Independent Evaluation Services for Adults, Children and Adolescents. This accreditation demonstrates HVE’s commitment to providing the best possible quality of service, respecting cultural and individual preferences, addressing health and safety concerns and reducing risk.
